Handcrafted Moroccan Ceramics – Unique & Authentic

Our ceramic products are entirely handmade, meaning each piece is unique. You may notice slight variations in the colored decoration or small clay particles—these imperfections are a natural part of the craftsmanship and add to the authenticity of each item. Unlike machine-made ceramics, our pieces reflect the artistry and heritage of Moroccan pottery.

The Tradition of Moroccan Pottery

Moroccan pottery is deeply rooted in centuries-old traditions, passed down through generations of artisans. The three main pottery centers in Morocco are Safi, Fes, and Meknes.

  • Safi is the largest production hub, where apprentices knead the clay, and skilled artisans shape it on the potter’s wheel. Designs are etched onto wet clay, sun-dried, fired in kilns, and then decorated with vibrant glazes, making them water-resistant. Safi pottery is particularly known for its metal inlays and signature red clay, often glazed in green, turquoise, and black.
  • Fes is famous for its blue-and-white ceramics, influenced by the Moorish Andalusian period. Antique Fassi pottery can be seen in museums such as the Marrakech Museum and the National Ceramic Museum in Safi.
  • Meknes blends traditional and modern styles, incorporating both floral and geometric patterns.

In Safi, the Quartier des Potiers (Potters’ Quarter) near the Portuguese fortifications of Kechla is home to numerous artisans. Visitors can explore the National Ceramic Museum, watch potters at work, and even take lessons at the studio of master potter Moulay Ahmed Serghini—whose work has been displayed at the British Museum.

Moroccan ceramics feature intricate floral and geometric motifs, often in cobalt blue and multicolored designs. These highly decorative styles reflect the artistic influence of the Moors and Jewish communities who settled in Fes after the Reconquista in 1492.

Whether you are looking for a striking decorative piece or a functional ceramic item, our collection celebrates the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Moroccan pottery.
